The first of the national finals took place this weekend at Melton Mowbray IBC with the mixed fours and over 55 pairs. The county were well represented over the weekend, coming up against the best players in the country, all competing for the titles.

East Sussex 4– G.Gingal/P.Ring/P.Relf/J.Waghorn



Three of our entries took part in this years mixed fours finals. Two of our entries made qualified from their groups, both winning their groups.
The results from the knock out rounds were:
Last 32 – East Sussex 1 [13 – 4] Greater Manchester 2
– East Sussex 2 [12 – 3] Surrey 3
Last 16 – East Sussex 1 [9 – 7] West Midlands 2
– East Sussex 2 [12 – 4] West Midlands 1
The winners were Cheshire and the runners up were Gloucestershire.

East Sussex were originally award two places at the over 55 pairs but were given an extra place. East Sussex 1 came second in their group to progress to the knockouts. Pairs 2 and 3 were unlucky with close games, with pair 3 only finishing 2 shots behind the eventual runners up.
East Sussex 1 played Devon 3 in the last 32 but unfortunately were beaten 11 – 5.
The winners were Mike Dyer & Nigel Nicholls from Cornwall and the runners up were Lorraine Shorney & Andrew Shorney of Hampshire.
