This weekend saw four players from East Sussex travel to Solihull IBC to take part in the ESMBA open singles. Glen Harvey, Alun Thomas, Nigel Froud and Edward Law took part in the days event, with group finishes of 1st, 4th, 2nd and 2nd respectively.
At the last 32 of the main competition, Glen and Edward had a tight match ending 10 – 7 to Glen. Glen reached the semi final where he lost to the winner of the competition, Matty Worden of Cheshire. Nigel reached the last 16 where he was also bested by Matty. Alun Thomas reached the semi final of the plate competition and was beaten by Lee Toleman of North Yorkshire, who came runner up.
Well done to our players who represented East Sussex at the national event.
Also, the B team travelled to Wey Valley for a friendly against Surrey. This was their first away trip of the season. Unfortunately, results did not go their way and fell to a 34 – 6 defeat. These games aren’t all all about winning and all players enjoyed the day out to Guildford.
